IRS Releases 2026 “Dirty Dozen” List of Common Tax Scams
The IRS has released its annual list of the “Dirty Dozen” tax scams for 2026, warning taxpayers and businesses about schemes that can lead to identity theft, financial loss, and tax compliance issues. This year’s list highlights evolving threats such as phishing emails and texts impersonating the IRS, AI-enabled phone scams, misleading tax advice on social media, fake charities, and fraudulent tax credit promotions. The IRS urges taxpayers to stay vigilant, avoid sharing personal information through unsolicited messages, and consult trusted professionals when uncertain about tax claims or offers.
